The situation
Lightfin's approach did not begin with the recent wave of automation tooling. It began in heavy industrial operations, where a business process is not an abstraction.
It is a material moving through a plant. A document that has to exist before the material is allowed to move. A number that has to reconcile at the end of a shift, because something physical either happened or it did not.
Software written for that environment gets judged differently. There is no interpretation layer between what the system says and what is standing on the floor — and that is still the standard we build to.
Where the standard came from
On a plant floor the system is either right, or it is visibly and physically wrong. It is a good place to learn to build.
Industrial operations connect materials, inventory, documents, accounting, people, and physical work at the same time. A screen is a small part of the system. Most of the problem is understanding what actually happens between two departments, and what everybody is quietly doing by hand to keep it working.
Automation grounded in observing real production processes and supporting them, rather than replacing them with an idealised version that operators would route around. Specific project detail is not published here.
